Too much Anti-Microsoft

I was reading a thread in a forum discussing the name of Microsoft’s new Operating System, “Windows Vista”, I came to the conclusion that people thought it “sucked”, it was “unoriginal”, “lame”, “horrible”, etc.

I personally don’t care one way or another what the name is. I will definitely be buying the product. The funny thing is, the majority of the people in the thread that just hated the name, also lean more towards the “anti-Microsoft” club. I think no matter what the name was, no matter how creative or catchy, the same people would have thought it “sucked.”

I don’t think they really had an issue with a name, but instead with the product itself…It is a MS product after all.

I still don’t understand why so many people dislike Microsoft. I realize people have their OS preferences, they may prefer to program for Unix rather than windows, or they just can’t stand the fact that MS has become as successful as it has. Even given those reasons though, there is a place for Microsoft in our community.

In business in general, competition is a good thing… an OUTSTANDING thing. Your competitors are often what drive you to take your service or product to the next level. You watch your rivals and see what they are doing … and HOW they are doing it. You learn from their mistakes and you strive to deliver an even better product.

So all of you people who swear by Linux or Mac, thank Microsoft for your “great” product.

While I agree competition is a great thing, there are plenty of reasons Microsoft does not deserve to exist. They do much more to hurt than to help. In fact their actions are one of the reasons there are so few mainstream competitors in the OS and some other software markets. I keep a thorough explanation of why Microsoft is so bad at MS Versus.

Are you fucking insane? Thank Microsoft for what? Making mediocre products? They haven’t “created” anything in their entire existence. They continue to steal ideas and innovation from other companies, this time (yet, again) they’re stealing from Apple. Most of they’re key Vista features are blatant rip-offs of Apple’s MacOS X “Tiger”. Vista’s Gadgets are nothing more than a copy of Tiger’s Dashboard and Widgets. They’re also bending over backwards to copy Spotlight and iPhoto.
