Do you twitter?

Archived in the category: Useless Info

I was asked recently…

Do you twitter?

To which i responded that was NONE of their business. Twitter, Twotter, What?

I feel like I’m drowning in all of these new social networking/bookmarking/hanging out sites. A new one is launched almost daily and how on Earth am I supposed to keep up with these? How can I tell what will be worth spending my time on? I don’t have a ton of free time to just hang out and write about what I like to do like on 43 Things. Twitter just doesn’t interest me right now. So, as a website owner, which would be the best to spend my time on. Right now the only two I really have found useful are StumbleUpon and MyBlogLog, both personally and professionally.

I am really curious as to what people are using and why. I want to know is there something I’m not doing that I should be doing.

Twitter is an interesting platform from a services standpoint…I know some guys who have built some notification type applications on top of it already (build notifications and whatnot), but the reliability is absolutely dreadful. Pownce.com is a new one that seems to have more promise, but no doubt they’ll run into scaling issues as well.

Facebook and LinkedIn are plenty enough for me…someone needs to build a mashup which mashes up other mashups!

I twitter. It’s a nice way to keep up with all my peeps in real-time, and to micro-blog all the things I don’t think are worth proper-blogging. I’m also into Facebook, Flickr and Last.fm a lot. I love del-icio.us - not only can I access my bookmarks from anywhere, but I can share them with people too.

I have profiles on others (linkedin, virb, etc) but I don’t really use those.

I’ve just joined Pownce, which seems to incorporate a lot of other services (twitter, del.icio.us, dropsend) into one big one. Not sure yet if it’ll turn out to be any good, but these things are all worth a try. I have an invite going spare if you want?

At first I was really into all the social networks but now it’s boring. There is a new social website that’s just been released by Kevin Rose, Daniel Burka (of digg.com) and his girlfriend Leah Culver. pownce.com the website is called and it looks really good I have to say.

If you use MyBlogLog, you might want to take a look at BlogCatalog:

http://www.blogcatalog.com/

It’s similar, though it has a lot of additional functionality, including an excellent directory and some lively forums. I prefer it to MBL.

I joined MyBlogLog because of you.So you are to blame.I think I joined Twitter a while ago.But I was confused, like that’s it? Just little notes? I’m far too long-winded for Twitter. My twitters wouldn’t be short enough to be called twitters.More like ramblers. They should do a site for ramblers.Wait, they have! it’s called blogging.
There is a lot of pressure to be in on the latest thing.I’ve always been a bit of a skeptic and try to only join up for stuff I can use not stuff I think I ought to be using.

Love the twitter reference sion. and I’m with you. But, I would rather know what is out there and then decide if i should try it, rather than not knowing about something that could be really fun to be a part of.
