Harry Potter - Damn right I saw it

Harry Potter is not a guilty pleasure of mine. I am VERY open about my enjoyment of the books and the movies. I am the person that will buy the book and sit down and read it straight through. This week I have to get a lot of work done so I can do that this weekend. I’ll be at the store at 8am to buy the new release this coming Saturday.

I regularly read the books to my kids so they are really into Harry Potter too. It’s just a great story and a great place to let your imagination go. Who hasn’t wanted to be a witch or wizard????

I had made plans to take my oldest son to the movie on Wednesday during the day so hopefully it wouldn’t be packed. I ended up going Saturday however. It required planning because most of the theaters were showing it in French or dutch so I needed to find one that showed it in English. It was well worth the hour drive. It was a great movie and really left me wanting more. I can’t wait until Saturday to buy the book :|.

I wish I was a wizard! I’ve played one in online games most of my life — back to DOS text RPGs, then text MUDs once I was online.

Aren’t kids great? I like the Harry Potter world so much, my introduction to it was reading the first book to my son when he was 6, and it was the first series of books that really appealed to him.

My gf has a tradition of going to the midnight showing opening night … this year she forced me there as well. I will admit, I’ve never read any of the books, but seen all the movies and the new one was quite good IMO. Though the very early morning for work the next day and the massive number of people wouldn’t have been my first choice. I couldn’t believe number the boys in their Harry Potter glasses and cloaks and girls in their (slutty) Hermione schoolgirl outfits (all of whom are like 12 years old WITH THEIR PARENTS there … sheesh)! It was an experience, I’ll say that. :\

I preordered it through the B&N website. So I should have it in the mail soon. But I haven’t even read the 6th book. LOL. I have to do that first.
