Way back in December I came up with an idea for a site, that would become an all in one blog resource essentially. I didn’t feel there was a good one out there and I enjoy blogging in general so I thought, “Why don’t I make my own?”
So, I started working on it for a few weeks, got a logo done, worked up a design, integrated the forums etc. Then I got busy with work and life. BIG mistake. About two weeks ago I was speaking to Chris Garrett and he and I were talking about blog communities and the lack thereof and so I thought..ok, I’ll show him my site and see what he thinks. He said some really nice things and THEN it was HIS turn to share… he was also harboring a secret blogging forum. At this point I’m thinking….Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! and I’m kicking myself for waiting. I mean.. yeah I enjoy blogging and I know a thing or do about it, but here is someone who is this very well-known blogger who now I’ll be competing with in a sense.
But there is nothing like a little healthy competition to kick your butt into gear…plus, the market is really wide open right now so there is definitely room for both of us. A couple days after Chris and I had our talk, he launches his forum. I visit it and I immediately like it so I have become active there and will probably stay active there if the current feel of the site continues. This conversation with Chris though, really prompted me to get off my butt and get back to my site. In the meantime though, the blog forum should go ahead and launch at least that aspect while I work on other aspects of the site. So that is what I have done. I think that conversation was productive for both Chris and I!
If you enjoy blogging, I definitely encourage you to come join. I am really looking for feedback on the forum as I want to make it as good as it can be.
I’d love help spreading the word so if you want to stumble it, digg it, twit it, post it, that would be awesome.
