Ok, I am following orders for once. Mark left me a comment to write a new post already so here I am. I haven’t really had too much to say and haven’t felt compelled to discuss anything lately, but it would probably be good to give anyone who still reads this blog an update!
I’ve been keeping busy lately both professionally and personally. As a lot of you know, I went back to work at an office when I moved to Virginia rather than continuing working from home. I am a developer for the Department of State and I really have been enjoying what I’ve been doing.
I was a little hesitant going back to an office since I had been working from home for the last 3.5 years. It wasn’t as big an adjustment as I had expected. My hours are semi-flexible so I could go in as early as 5 in the morning or 11am. I tend to like to go in early and leave early so I have plenty of time after work to enjoy myself. As for the work itself, I’m doing all C# again using an Oracle background. This is my first experience with Oracle so am happy to have it. The people I work with are pretty cool and make coming into the office every day more enjoyable.
After work I rarely get on the computer anymore. I used to be on the computer throughout the entire day but since moving here, I just haven’t had the urge to get online when I’m not at work. So, what do I do in that free time? Read, walk, hang out, go to bookstores, spend time with my family, sleep, eat, watch tv, go to movies, sightsee, hike, camp, explore, go to the gym, play with my dogs, etc. I am just feeling very content and it’s a damn good feeling.
The summer is looking pretty good. We are going to TN and North Carolina in a few weeks and I also want to go to Niagara Falls this summer. Maybe since I am getting back outside again, I will actually start working on Let’s Rough It again.
I want to start spending a little time online after work as I have a lot of ideas for The Blog Experiment among other things. Who knows, I may fall off the face of the earth again, but hopefully not.
So, that’s my story. Now drop me a note and tell me YOUR story.
