Last night a friend (she is very similar to me in terms of gadgets and toys) and I were talking about how niether of us have gotten into the digital organizers and we prefer the use of the little pocket calendar you can get from any stationary store. Most people who know me would think this is odd because I love gadgets and love to play with all of the new toys. A couple years ago I bought a Toshiba e355 Pocket PC (yes i found a deal) and I’ve barely used it. I tried to put all of my addresses in it and even store my appointments in it, but it was just a PITA. The coolest thing about it was that I could send a file from my pocketPC wirelessly to my network.
I’m hoping some of you can shed some light on what I’m missing. What is SO COOL about these organizers and why and how do they work for you? Tell me what I’m missing!

Since I’ve had to reinstall everything on my harddrive, I am reacquiring some of my favorite extensions. These are my favorites:
- downTHEMall! - This extension lets you downoad all of the files in a directory at once rather than downloading each individually.
- Web Developer - This is just a handy little extension for web developers; lots of cool things in here.
- ColorZilla
- I love to use this tool to get the colors out of my favorite pictures
to use on my websites or in my themes like I did for my blog here.
- FoxyTunes - This lets you manage iTunes, Winamp, or another media player directly from the browser. Very handy.
- googlebar - Enough said.
What are your favorite extensions? Recommend some to me please!

Just over a year ago, I purchased a Dell Inspiron 8600 when they ran one of
their infamous $750 off anything over $1500. I got a sweet widescreen
notebook with a Pentium M processor. I love this thing! Now, about 8
months ago, i had a couple of problems with the hard drive, but the
issue seemed to work itself out and I haven’t had any problems with the
hard drive until recently.
A couple of weeks ago, I woke up to check my email and my black screen said: No
bootable disc found. Greaaat! So, I rebooted and everything worked
fine. A couple days later, it happened again. It took my putting my OS
disk in the drive to get the system to boot up. Once I did, I started
copying all of my data to my external drive. Made sure I had EVERYTHING
I wanted backed up.
Finally yesterday afternoon, it died. After several failures and eventual reboots, the harddrive was no more.
I tried and then cried when it didn’t work.
With Thanksgiving being two days a way, I was wondering how in the hell I
was going to get a laptop hard drive delivered to me in time. I pulled
up bestbuy.com and saw they had some online, so I loaded up the kids
and off we went. Well, Best Buy doesn’t carry laptop hard drives in the
store. Next I went to Circuit City. No luck there. They don’t even have
them on their website.
I even have a friend who offered to buy me one from a compusa nearby and ship it to me Next Day. I was so
tempted, but they didn’t have any in stock. SO, I come home and start calling the local computer part stores and Office stores, etc. The
“computer department” guy at Staples tried to tell me that since my laptop was a dell, i could only purchase my hard drive from dell.com.
Nothing else would be compatible. Now that’s the biggest load of crap I’ve heard in a while. I just LOVE being talked to like I know nothing
about computers. I’ll save that for another rant.
At this point the shakes are starting to kick in. It’s like taking the needle out of an addict’s arm. I’m not quite sure how to function without it.
It’s sad really, but it’s the truth. I was complaining to my friend Keri about it and she suggested I try Fry’s/Outpost.
But, I assumed the earliest I would get it is Friday. Apparently though, if you order by midnight, you can have it by noon the next day.
So, I called their sales department to verify this and it was accurate! I ended up getting the Toshiba 100GB. I was scared to find out what shipping would cost, but it was just under $10! Fry’s, you have a new customer!

My parents are demanding I give them a Christmas list sooner rather than later. I never know what I want and to be honest I prefer to be surprised. If someone wants to get me a gift, I want them to pick one for me, based on what they know about me. BUT, parents will be parents. I looked through the latest electronic magazines and flyers today and didn’t really see anything that I wanted that I didn’t already have.
I am the kind of person, that if I see something I want, I save my money for it and then buy it. A couple months back, I bought myself a Digital Rebel XT, so I’m thinking maybe getting some accessories for that, I’m just not sure what. Any recommendations?
I’m looking for help here. What are you asking for Christmas? Know of any cool things out there that would be neat to get?

I just wanted to take the opportunity to wish you a happy birthday. I know it’s hard to spend it alone, but our boys and I are thinking about you. We love you and miss you and we’ll just have to celebrate when you get home. Another year wiser and still older than me. I like how that works
.
Hope you like the new theme; it’s for you. I know how much you enjoy autumn, so hopefully this helps brighten your day.
Love you! Happy birthday Drew.
