Most people know that I am moving back to DC from Belgium in the coming months so I’ve been doing plenty of research. I am a researcher in general. Before the last car I bought, i compared and contrasted for about a year before I made a decision. I do this with most things. When it comes to the important things in life like where my kids will go to school, where we will live, what job I will have…using the word anal to describe me would be an understatement.

With the impending move, I started researching airfare. I will be traveling there by myself initially so I need a one-way ticket. A one-way ticket from Belgium to DC is $1200. A round trip ticket from Belgium to DC is $600. Hmmmm…which one do you think I’m going to buy?

I will be returning to Belgium at some point, but I will need a round-trip ticket then. I don’t understand why one way is twice as much as a round-trip ticket. Can anyone explain this logic to me?

Merry Christmas everyone (even if you don’t celebrate it)! Were you all good this year? I didn’t have anything on my wish list this year except for a new watch. Nothing fancy, just useful. I’ll find out in the morning if I got it . What did you wish for this year?

I did give my blog a new design. What do you think? You can change the color by using the color switcher in the top-right corner. I thought of storing people’s preferences with a cookie, but ultimately decided not to.

Size really does matter, at least when it comes to hard drives. One of my favorite sites to visit is Slickdeals.net. This site usually has all of the best deals and are typically tech-related. I was looking at it this morning and I saw a listing for a 500GB External Hard Drive for $100. Everywhere else it was $140 so that is a pretty good savings. Plus you can never have too many external hard drives lying around right? Well I didn’t act immediately, thankfully.

I continue to scroll through all of the latest deals and I see something else that catches my eye. It is bigger, shinier, sexier than the last one. This one was a Hitachi 1TB external drive going for the low price of $200! This made my knees get weak. How was I going to resist this? I have three of them right now and did I really need another one? My current ones are all in use but with one this size, I could easily combine them into 1. The temptation is killing me. I still want to purchase it but I haven’t yet! Just look at that thing. How can anyone NOT want it?

For some really weird reason, when I see a big hard drive, I get excited. When I see a big hard drive at an amazing price, it is very hard to resist my urges. Do you have anything that has the same effect on you?

Happy belated Veteran’s Day to my fellow vets!

My family has asked me to make a xmas list and this year I think I can come up with a lot of things. Before moving to Belgium, I used to buy something if I wanted it and didn’t really have to think twice about it. This was when I had a full-time job . Now that I completely work for myself and the fact that my husband and I are both paid in dollars and the $ really sucks in europe right now, we are living on a budget and I don’t buy myself toys anymore.

Well Christmas is coming and my parents and family want to know the kinds of things I want. Since I’ve gone a year without buying things, surely I can come up with quite a list. I need help though! I don’t like to tease myself so I have avoided looking at all of the cool gadgets that have come out over the last year so I’m not even sure what is out there .

Please make suggestions to me and don’t worry about the price tag; I want to know what’s new out there regardless of price! Something I know I’m not interested in is the iPhone. I’ve used my $30 phone here in belgium for less than 200 minutes in the past 15 months so an iPhone would really be overkill
