Birthday Girl

Today is my birthday and I’ve had a nice day/week so far. For those that know me, I tend to drag out my birthday as long as possible (it only comes once a year after all). I’m the ripe young age of 32 and I’m hoping this coming year will be the best yet.

That’s all I have to say :)

For those who don’t know

The past week I’ve been on a trip for work/pleasure visiting my business partner and some family as well. I’ve had an incredible time so far, better than I had hoped for actually.

It’s always hard to manage your work and other obligations when you have people you are supposed to keep happy. I had hoped to achieve a lot more than I have so far on this trip as it’s a “working” vacation, but it’s hard to say know to your friends when you haven’t seen them in a year!

I knew coming into it though that the first week would be hard for me work-wise so this weekend I will need to step it up as I have some stuff I need to get done! I will suffer another speedbump tomorrow as it is my birthday and I will actually get to spend it with my parents which is a first in many many years.

The past few days have been awesome as I am a place that I call home, Savannah, GA. It was great to be with friends and really get to spend time in the city I fell in love with years ago. I’ve had my camera with me taking tons of pictures so I’ll leave you with one that I think really sets the mood for the town.

Republish your first blog post!

Kirk from Just Thinkin’ issued a challenge for everyone to republish their first blog posts! i have rather reluctantly accepted his challenge. I was hesitant because when I read my first post, I realized not much has changed :D. How about YOU republish your first post!

What took me so long to get this up?

Many of you have asked me, “Sara, what has taken so long to get this blog up?” Only thing I can tell you is pure laziness. That’s right. There isn’t a deeper or more profound meaning than that. Those of you who know me, know that I take forever when it comes to my own sites and applications. I’ll make a short story long for those of you that are interested.

I bought this domain about 2.5 years ago, with the intent on making it a SIG. I had all of these grand ideas (don’t we all?). There was a time it was going to be for Java developers. Then I fell in love (and am still having a torrid affair with) .NET. and was going to develop it for .NET lovers. Then I thought, “why can’t we all be friends?” and considered making it for all developers. Anyway, I’m rambling. My point is I never did anything with it.

In the meantime I started working on a .NET application that includes blogs; my goal was that I would finish the blogging module and then take that and use it for my own blog at ilovecode.com. Well, it never happened. Been too busy with work and too lazy with personal projects that it didn’t get done.

So, this past weekend, I decided to move ilovecode from my windows server to unix and throw up wordpress. Then, I bought ilovecode.net for my future .net endeavours (maybe i’ll do something with it 2.5 years down the road).

That’s it really. The end. Yes, my blog is finally up and I hope to become a regular blogger; I always enjoy getting my thoughts down on paper.

Thanks for listening!

I was reading how bad your blog is! it was broken for ilovecode but it worked for another one of my blogs. It really was. Either way, it called my blog

Maybe it wasn’t broken after all!

Harry Potter - Damn right I saw it

Harry Potter is not a guilty pleasure of mine. I am VERY open about my enjoyment of the books and the movies. I am the person that will buy the book and sit down and read it straight through. This week I have to get a lot of work done so I can do that this weekend. I’ll be at the store at 8am to buy the new release this coming Saturday.

I regularly read the books to my kids so they are really into Harry Potter too. It’s just a great story and a great place to let your imagination go. Who hasn’t wanted to be a witch or wizard????

I had made plans to take my oldest son to the movie on Wednesday during the day so hopefully it wouldn’t be packed. I ended up going Saturday however. It required planning because most of the theaters were showing it in French or dutch so I needed to find one that showed it in English. It was well worth the hour drive. It was a great movie and really left me wanting more. I can’t wait until Saturday to buy the book :|.
