Do we have enough stats?

Archived in the category: Useless Info

I say no. If you run a website or have a blog, there is a good chance you keep up with your to read your website statistics and if you don’t…you should. There are so many different website statistics packages out there, so how do you know what to use? Do you use one or use several? I use a few myself. awstats is great for analyzing your log files; W3Counter is another, although I haven’t tried it yet but have been considering it. Between awstats and Google analytics most of my needs and the needs of clients are handled successfully. So, do we really need another stats program? Sure!

Performacing Metrics has been around for a little while now but was recently unveiled. I can’t give an official review right now, but its worth taking a look at. Click the image for a better resolution:

So, do you think too much information is a bad thing? There are so many stats programs out there and some are better than others, but is there one that is the end-all be-all to website stats?

Nursing the Flu

Being sick sucks. It’s never fun no matter the situation but this week was supposed to be a vacation week for me. The kids were out of school, we had a lot of fun things planned but first my son got sick, and then around Wednesday I started to feel the effects of it. I think I’ve lost 5 pounds in the last few days because I can’t swallow.

So, I worked some, laid around a lot, and this weekend I played my Wii a ton. Did I ever mention I got a Wii? Well, I did, and it is even cooler than they said it was. So I sat on the couch in my jammies and played The Legend of Zelda and kicked some serious bad-guy butt. Now, I have to avoid the Wii all week so I can make sure I accomplish all that I need to. :-<

Does anyone have a Wii? If so, tell me your Mii and our Miis can hang out. That may be the only social activity I get :p

I’ve been swamped with work lately which is great but it has prevented me from keeping up with my blog readings so if I haven’t commented in a while.. my humblest apologies :D. I opened Google Reader this morning to see my list of blogs that I haven’t read and my jaw dropped. At this point I’m scared to start as it will take my a full day to read them. and if I skip them maybe i will miss something really cool or hurt a friends feelings. So, my choices are:

a. mark them all as read and start over
b. take 20 hours and read through them all
c. read only my friends
d. enter your option here

I don’t want to open my reader again as it will frighten me into a state of paralysis. What do you do when you are faced with this awful dilemma :)

Pooler Georgia Home for Sale

Here I am using my blog for what will hope be some personal gain. The blog gets found for all kinds of search terms and I hope it will get found by someone looking to buy a home in Pooler, Georgia. Let’s put this social media to the test and see what I can do with it. Prepare yourself for maximum keyword density…

pooler georgia house for saleBackground: My home is about 2.5 years old and is located just outside of Savannah, Georgia right off the I-95 and I-16 intersection. We moved there when my husband was stationed at a local Army Base, Fort Stewart, Home of the 3rd Infantry Division. The house is even closer to Hunter Army Airfield in case there are any military members relocating to the Savannah area. I had to move in August when my family was relocated to SHAPE, Belgium. The house has been on the market since last May so I am definitely ready to sell. We have had an offer, but it fell through. I am tired of paying two house payments as you can imagine so am looking to get the word out in any shape or form!

pooler georgia house for saleI will give some basic information on the house. It is just shy of 1900 Square feet. the foyer and living room have 14 foot ceilings which is just really pretty and it really opens things up. There are two full bathrooms in the house. The mast bedroom as a separate garden tub and shower with walk-in closet. The home has 3 official bedrooms with an additional large bonus room (with closet) above the garage that can be counted as an additional bedroom or use it as a rec room. I used it as my office when I lived there and it was awesome.

There is a formal dining room and a very large and open kitchen that give any parent a great view into the kids room or the living room! The master bedroom is a large room with vaulted ceilings. We have a large fenced-in backyard with a deck that we (and some friends) put in ourselves. The yard is great for a growing family or one with pets. There was always plenty of room for our dogs to run around in!

So why isn’t the house selling? I’ve got no clue. Most people have great feedback. The people with complaints typically complain about the red in the living room. We are looking into having it painted or we would definitely consider a painting allowance. If you know of anyone moving to the Savannah, Georgia area who is looking for a home, please show them this site. We’ve got a fabulous Savannah realtor, Kim Fox, who is doing everything she can to help us sell the house. You can read the details of the house for sale.

We have a video tour of the house too in case anyone wants to see it but it requires Windows Media Player:

Did you really want to know?

I had been seeing the “5 things you didn’t know about me” tag game going on for a few weeks lately and I was actually happy I had not been “Tagged” yet as I’m already a pretty open person and it would be pretty hard for me to think of 5 things I wanted to talk about. But leave it to Weon to get me just when I thought I was safe in my little hidey hole. If you are a close friend of mine, you will know some of this, but this should be news for others.

1. I want to be a pilot. Now I don’t want to fly airplanes for a living, but yes, i want to get at least my private pilot’s license. About 10 years ago I took my first lesson in beautiful Monterey, CA. If anyone has ever been to Monterey, you know just how gorgeous it is. And to have that be what I see from the air, not just looking out of a little porthole, but looking out the window of a cockpit. It was just incredible and I knew it was something I needed to do. I have always loved to fly period. I am the person with the mile-wide grin on her face during takeoff and landing. I always get a window seat and if the flight doesn’t have a window seat, I would probably book with someone else.

2. I used to have dread locks.

3. I have no political affiliation and never will. I usually don’t talk politics much with people just because it usually turns into them trying to convince me i’m wrong. My values are core to me and are based on my own personal experience. I am very much a to each his own kind of person, I have some conservative beliefs, and some liberal. Like my heritage, I’m also a mutt with my political beliefs.

4. I’m a pretty good snow boarder although I haven’t done it in a few years. That is about to change in a couple of weeks though.

5. I would make an excellent lumberjack! About 5 years ago we lived in the Seattle area and we had a big old house (about 2500 sq feet) that had crap for insulation. This house didn’t have heat wired in it either. It was a neat looking house but it just wasn’t built well, but it was dirt cheap and we were poor so we rented it. The only way it was heated was by a wood-burning stove. One stove for 2500 sq feet meant it took a while for the house to heat up. Around November, Drew was about to be sent away for a couple of months so we took our chainsaw, went to the woods (with a permit of course) and cut down some trees. Yep, i needed help getting the trees down unless they were pretty skinny. But after drew left, splitting the wood was left to me. So it was december in Washington state and cold as hell. Drew was gone, my son was 6 months old. I had to get up at 5 every morning to get the fire going. If Ian woke up, I had to put him in his car seat and set him next to the fire so he could be warm. I was in school at the time so I had to take Ian to daycare. But when we got home i would try to get the fire started and I would set him next to the stove and go outside and split enough wood to last through the night. I became a wood-splitting mad-woman.

I get to relive that experience now that a tree fell down in our front yard during a wind storm a couple of weeks ago. This picture really doesn’t do it justice but the tree that fell down was as large as the one left standing. It has just been chopped up a little bit already.Fallen Tree
